Bluetooth Headset Challenged by Other Wireless Technology

Bluetooth finally find hope in a promising new field, namely stereo audio headset. Not long ago, Amoi Electronics announced in a public forum that it will reveal Bluetooth stereo headphones in the end of this year or early next year to match the rapid growth of a variety of digital television next year.

Coincidentally, in the markets of Europe and the United States, the main suppliers of Bluetooth chips, Cambridge Silicon Radio (CSR) and RF MD, as well as the emerging company Zeevo, announced that they will develop Bluetooth headset that supports stereo, and claimed that the first headset will come into the market before Christmas. It is reported, Ying Feiling will also participate in this market. In overseas, manufacturers of mobile phones behave very positively. They thought that after the embedded camera, music would be the next important characteristic of mobile phones, and the operators would make the service provided to music as a new point for profit growth.

However, Bluetooth has its opponents. For example, another company Aura communication Technology Company announced that it considered wireless headset needed to use proprietary wireless technology. The company has partnered with MP3 maker Creative Technology, signed an agreement, and will invest on the latter to develop earphones based on proprietary and unique modulated magnetic technology. There is another message saying, apple computer will introduce its wireless version of high-end MP3 player, but the best-selling iPod may be used by the technology other than Bluetooth.

In view of this, the stereo wireless headphones will become the hot spot next year. The applications include wireless MP3, mobile phones playing high-quality music and stereo earphones for digital TV. But the professionals have divergence on whether using the standard technology of Bluetooth or using the company's own proprietary wireless system, which may lead to future interoperability problems.

Bluetooth supporters thought, the new characteristic of adaptive frequency hopping of Bluetooth will prevent the interference between it and Wi-Fi. And with the next generation of enhanced data rate (Enhanced Data Rate, EDR), Bluetooth standard will make interference problems eased, and will increase the Bluetooth speed up to 3 times.
